It’s no secret that Instagram is one of the most popular social networks on earth. With over a billion monthly users, it’s the second most engaged network behind Facebook.
This means that if you’re not taking advantage of Instagram’s reach and popularity, you’re missing out on a big chunk of exposure for your med spa.
I’m going to share with you a few tips that you can use to maximize your Instagram Business profile for maximum exposure.
Setting up an Instagram Business Profile
Make sure that your med spa has its own Instagram Business profile. You do not want to follow the tips below if you use your personal instagram profile for both business and personal usage.
Follow the link below to learn how to create an Instagram Business Account if you don’t already have one.
If you’re creating one for the first time, you’ll want to create a standard account first, and then switch it to a Business Account in the Settings tab once you login for the first time.

Stick to your niche
This one is pretty simple, but we often see a lot of businesses posting content that has nothing to do with their business.
As an aesthetician, you’ll want to be sure to post your spa’s work on your Instagram page and keep it consistent.
For instance, if you’re a skincare expert, be sure to showcase some of the awesome before and after-skin-treatments that you’ve done.
Keep your posts consistent so that your audience knows exactly what you specialize in, and can see your best work all in one place.
Show some behind the scenes (but not too much)
While I recommend sticking to one niche on your Instagram page, that isn’t to say that every single post has to be images of your clients.
Switch it up once in a while with some behind-the-scenes images of what goes on at your spa. Use the 80/20 rule. 80% of your Instagram content will be your awesome skincare results, and 20% of your content will be behind the scenes and treatment procedures, and other relevant images from your spa.
Post strategically
Make sure to post often, but not too often. I recommend 2-5 times per week. Instagram users are most active in the morning, so be sure and try to upload each new post before noon in your timezone if possible.
Utilize captions
People are more likely to engage with your content if you have a well-written caption attached to your image.
This gives them something to mentally engage with while they’re scrolling through your content. It’s an opportunity to add a more personal touch to your images, this will allow viewers to stick around longer and view more of your content because they’ll really feel more connected with your brand.
Use hashtags
#Hashtags are an easy way to increase your engagement and your followers. Be sure to use appropriate hashtags that are relevant to your niche, your location, and anything else that may be relevant to the photo.
This allows your images to be found by a larger audience due to the fact that many Instagram users manually seek out images or businesses that they’re interested in by searching specific hashtags.
Engage with your followers
Did someone leave a new comment on your latest photo? Be sure to reply and thank them for leaving a comment. This goes a long way with establishing trust and positive engagement with your brand.
Carve out some time each day to open your Instagram Business profile and check your DMs (direct messages) and reply to each and every comment on your images.
Tag your clients in the images
When possible, be sure that you are tagging your clients’ profiles when they’re featured in the image that you’re uploading (with their permission of course).
This will allow them and their followers to easily see the beautiful portrait of them and their family. Surely their friends and family will see the image and want to know who did such an awesome job on their skin.
Maximize your bio
In your Instagram Profile’s Bio section, write a short blurb about your medical spa, stating what kind of medical spa service you specialize in, where you’re located, and the best way to get in touch with you.
Make sure to put your spa’s URL in the Website URL section so your profile’s visitors can easily click it and check out your studio’s website to learn more about your work.

Conclusion
With Instagram being one of the most visited websites online, you want to make sure you’re taking advantage of all the free traffic that it can potentially bring you.
Keep your profile updated with relevant content and I can personally guarantee that over time, the time you put into keeping your profile fresh will be well worth the little bit of time you put in.
